Keough's Hot Springs
Enjoy a dip in the Eastern Sierra's Largest Natural Hot Springs Pool. The Brown family of Bishop has purchased and is currently renovating the entire facility. The main pool is the "largest natural hot springs pool in the Eastern Sierra". Locals and tourists alike are invited to swim, play and relax in the friendly surroundings. Devil's Postpile National Monument
Established in 1911 by presidential proclamation, Devil's Postpile National Monument protects and preserves the Devil's Postpile formation, the 101-foot high Rainbow Falls, and pristine mountain scenery. The formation is a rare sight in the geologic world ranks as one of the world's finest examples of columnar basalt. Its columns tower 60 feet high and display as unusual symmetry. US Government Manzanar National Historic Site
In 1942, the United States government ordered more than 110,000 men, women, and children to leave their homes and detained them in remote, military-style camps. Manzanar War Relocation Center was one of ten camps where Japanese American Citizens and resident Japanese aliens were interned during World War II. Located at Us-395, Independence, CA. 32.1 miles away from our Bishop location.
Laws Railroad Museum and Historical Site
The Railroad Museum features the original railroad depot that formerly served the railroad community of Laws. Actually, the town of Laws is re-created as a railroad town of yesteryear and is replete with original homes, a trading post, a general store and a post office among other buildings that give this a realistic feel. The museum is located on US Highway 6, Silver Canyon Rd, Bishop. It is about 4 miles south of our Bishop property. Open all year, best suited for all age groups. Visiting hours: 10 am to 4 pm. Inyo National Forest
Inyo National Forest is located between US Highway 6 and US Highway 395 extending 165 miles between the towns of Inyokern and Lee Vining. The forest features Mount Whitney, the highest point the continental United States.
June Lake Loop Recreation Area
The June Lake area is located off of State Route 158 and contains parts of the Pacific Crest and John Muir trails, Mono Basin National Forest Scenic Area, and June Mountain Winter Sports Area.
Mammoth Lakes Recreational Area
The Mammoth Lakes area offers fishing, skiing, boating, snowmobiling, and hiking. The area is located 41.6 miles northwest of our Bishop property.
Owens Valley Paiute-Shoshone Indian Cultural Center
This center features historical exhibits of American Indian food, clothing, housing, tools, and basketry. It is located at 2300 W Line St, 1.9 miles southwest of our Bishop property. This museum offers excellent informative displays featuring the history of the occupation of these tribes in the Owens Valley. Don't miss the Petroglyphs of the Volcanic Tablelands, they are all over the place, specifically the area immediately north of Bishop that lies between Hwy 395 and Hwy 6, extending about 20 miles toward Crowley lake at the southern edge of the Long Valley Caldera. Mono Lake Tufa State Reserve
Mono Lake features a preservation of tufa, which is a calcium-carbonate rock that is formed by the interaction of freshwater springs under the lake with the alkaline lake waters. The lake is located in Lee Vining, 64 miles northwest of our Bishop property.
Death Valley National Park
Death Valley contains the lowest spot in the United States at 282 feet below sea level. The town of Death Valley is located 163 miles southeast of our Bishop property.
Bishop Creek Canyon
Just a short drive west of Bishop along Hwy. 168, the natural environment changes quickly from the high desert sage and arid climate of the wide open Owens Valley floor to an alpine wonderland of pine forest, rushing streams and gorgeous deep-blue lakes surrounded by the mighty mountain peaks of the Eastern Sierra. With well maintained roads leading to 4 major lakes, this is one of the most accessible areas in the entire Eastern High Sierra for excellent trout fishing.
